The owner is super friendly and made my friends and I feel right at home! I'm from JC and I brought along some friends who are not from the area and we ended up leaving with the pepper hummus that we are in love with. He allowed us to try as many things as we wanted and was an amazing vibe. I'd come back here each time i'm in Hoboken!!

I saw the giant pickle on the glass frame of the door and uttered loudly βis this a pickle store!?β I then proceeded to go into set pickle store and have a the best time sampling some of the best pickles and pickled pineapples, kimchi and much more. Also, hidden bonus found some BOMB homemade hummus and babaganoush. Ask Chris about it. 10/10 recommend stop by pickle joy, the name does not lie.

Am I suggesting pickles out of a barrel taste better than pickles off a grocer's shelf: yes, I am. Can I claim to tell the difference between a store-bought olive and one hand-packed by my favorite Pickle Joy employee: yes, I can. Do I have the audacity to assert that the one thing Hoboken was missing was its own dedicated vendor of all things pickle: yes, I do. Be warned: the place is the size of two bushel baskets, is usually crowded with people vying for a free taste of the wares, and is overseen by the most cheerful customer-focused staff in all of Hudson county. After my first visit might I have I fallen down a brine-filled rabbit hole. I learned pickles are a natural appetite suppressant, are naturally low in calories and high in water (so they make great snacks before or after my run along the river), and (as confirmed by my doctor) help regulate my blood sugar. If I have to die on a pickle-hill, it's this one: pickles are tastier, crunchier, and somehow imbued with happiness when they are fresh and hand-packed. Check them out. And don't forget to buy some garlic stuffed olives: your chilled, very dry, Martini will thank you.
